About Played with Heart
The idea behind Played with Heart came to me when I was cleaning out my closet before I went off to college. I never really realized just how many golf shirts I had, and all the ones I don’t even wear. At every junior golf tournament I played in growing up, the entry gift always included a brand new golf shirt and hat. I played a lot of tournaments growing up, so you can imagine how many golf shirts and hats I accumulated over the years! Now that I’m in college, I never wear any of my junior golf stuff anymore, but I know that there are plenty of girls out there who would love to have a new outfit to play golf in. I wanted to do something with all of these pretty shirts and hats rather than letting them sit in my closet. so I rolled up the shirts, wrapped the hats around them, tied them up with a matching bows, and began looking for places to donate them. The more I thought about it, I didn’t want to limit this to just golf.
My entire life, sports have always been a huge part of my life. My whole family has been heavily involved in sports, so growing up, I never knew anything different. But playing collegiate golf at TCU has really revealed to me the impact sports have had on my life and the incredible world of opportunities they can lead to. If it wasn’t for golf, I wouldn’t be at TCU. Golf has gotten me a college scholarship, it has allowed me to travel to some of the coolest places, and it has brought me some of my very best friends. Above all, golf is a platform on which I can use my gifts for God's glory.
The name Played with Heart resides from Colossians 3:23-24 which says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” I believe in playing with a lot of heart and playing to glorify the Lord. Our talents and passions are God’s gifts to us, and what we do with our talent and passion is our gift back to God. I have been so blessed with the opportunity to play golf, is just a simple way to use what I have been given, to help give other girls an opportunity to play sports as well.
James 13:21 says “Equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” God has given us the gift of sport, and he has equipped us with various talents and passions in order to live out His purpose. So, my hope for Played with Heart is to equip young female athletes with the clothing and equipment they need to pursue their passion, find their platform, and discover the incredible opportunities and greater purpose found in sports.
